Monthly Day Trips

Our Monthly Hangs are designed to be action-packed, filled with activities that cater to all abilities. Whether it’s visiting local attractions, exploring nature, or taking part in sports and leisure activities, these outings are all about building confidence and making new friends. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where young people can socialise, have fun, and experience new things. We tailor each trip to ensure that everyone feels included and supported, regardless of their specific needs or abilities.

Fitness & Wellbeing Classes

As part of our commitment to promoting physical health and mental wellbeing, we offer monthly fitness classes. These sessions focus on movement, strength-building, and personal fitness, helping participants feel more confident in their physical abilities. We also run art and yoga classes to support emotional wellbeing, creativity, and mindfulness. These activities are designed to help young people develop a positive relationship with their physical and mental health.

Respite Trips

Our respite trips provide a much-needed break for young people who may face challenging life circumstances. We offer two trips to Aviemore, where participants can enjoy outdoor adventures and  activities in a supportive, inclusive environment. In addition, we organised an exciting trip to London, packed with opportunities to explore the city, visit cultural landmarks, and build lasting memories. The focus of these trips is to give young people time away from their daily struggles, offering them the chance to bond with peers, experience new activities, and return home feeling refreshed and empowered.

Collaborations & Special Programs

We are proud to work in partnership with several organisations that help us expand our offerings:

    • Young Enterprise Scotland: Each summer, we collaborate on a weekly club that offers our participants opportunities to learn business skills and entrepreneurship. In addition, eight of our young people took part in a 12-week business course this year, equipping them with practical skills and insights for their future.
    • Celtic Foundation: As part of our engagement with local sports programs, our participants took part in a football tournament at Celtic’s training ground. This initiative encourages teamwork, physical fitness, and sportsmanship.
    • Able2Sail: We offer six sailing days a year, where our young people learn how to sail on a boat in Inverkip. This hands-on experience provides a sense of adventure and accomplishment, allowing participants to build confidence while learning a new skill.
    • The Advisory Group: This group supports us with specialised excursions, including football and golf trips, which provide further opportunities for physical development and fun.

Support for Diverse Needs

At AWARE Scotland, we are committed to supporting young people with a range of abilities. We assess each participant’s individual needs and tailor our trips and activities accordingly. Our inclusive environment ensures that everyone, regardless of their specific challenges, feels valued and supported. We believe that diverse ability groups foster learning, empathy, and camaraderie among participants.

Fostering Social & Emotional Development

Our programmes aim to not only provide respite and enjoyment but also help young people develop essential life skills. Through team-building exercises, creative workshops, and physical activities, participants build self-confidence, improve social skills, and enhance emotional resilience. By promoting a positive outlook on life, we equip young people with the tools they need to face challenges with confidence and optimism.

Community & Friendship Building

One of the central goals of AWARE Scotland is to help young people forge meaningful friendships and become active, valued members of their community. Our programmes are designed to promote inclusivity and create opportunities for young people to connect with others who share similar experiences. The friendships and social connections they form during our activities often last long after the trips and classes have ended, fostering a sense of belonging and community.

Additional Support & Information for Parents

We understand that parents want to ensure their children are safe, supported, and getting the most out of our programs. For young people with additional support requirements, we fully assess individual needs and make the necessary accommodations. Our team of volunteers is trained to cater to a variety of abilities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
